KL is a must-go when visiting Malaysia. It is a huge city, very busy and traffic can be terrible. On the first day visit a mall for convenience as everything you need is right there. Check-out the different highlights like the Petronas Towers, Merdeka Square the KLCC Park and the like, they are all worthwhile if you ask me.
